In a previous article I mentioned how to create users and computers in active directory, the first stage of testing the PST Importer (and ESA). We use Standby Continuous Replication as part of our disaster recovery strategy.  Our environment consists of an Exchange 2007 clustered mailbox server using CCR which also replicates to an SCR server.  All our servers run Exchange 2007 SP2.

This week we did a test activation of the SCR replica in our test environment, but ran into an issue that we could not find a documented solution for.  In the hope that it saves someone else some time and anguish I’ve written about it here.

I just came across this problem (Windows Server 2008 can’t boot, winload.exe can’t be located) and as it took me about 3 (yes THREE!!) hours to fix I thought I’d share with you all to save you time.

Working on Exchange email archiving software and PST Importing tools we have a test network with quite a few virtual machines, many with Windows Server 2008 installed.
